Roof estimate from a street address
Last updated: October 3, 2026
A roof estimate from Roof Border is produced from a street address in minutes. You type the address, and it measures every roof face from satellite imagery — area and pitch face by face — then returns the roofing squares, the shingle bundle count and a branded quote you can send to the homeowner. No ladder, no tape, no site visit.
What is a satellite roof estimate?
A satellite roof estimate is a roofing quote built from aerial and satellite imagery instead of an on-site measurement.
The roof is measured from above — each face gets its own area and its own slope — and those measurements become the squares, materials and price. The contractor never climbs the roof to produce the number; the measuring step happens on screen from the imagery.
How do you get a roof estimate without climbing on the roof?
Enter the property address, click the roof on the satellite view, and each face returns with its own area and pitch — then apply your pricing.
- Enter the property address.
- Confirm the building and click its roof on the satellite view.
- Each roof face comes back with its measured area and pitch.
- Apply your prices and send the branded roof estimate — minutes, from the truck.
How accurate is a satellite roof estimate?
The area and pitch of each roof face are measured per plane from satellite elevation data, not averaged across the roof, and every measurement includes a 3D view to verify the pitch.
Measuring each face separately is what keeps the estimate honest: a house with a low porch and steep dormers is priced face by face instead of with one average slope. Climbing the roof remains a safety and inspection decision — it is no longer required just to measure for a quote.
How long does it take to get a roof estimate?
A measured roof estimate takes minutes — type the address, click the roof, send the quote.
There is no drive to the property, no ladder and no sketch, so most contractors produce the estimate from the driveway or before they leave the shop.
What does a roof estimate include?
A Roof Border estimate includes the area and pitch of each roof face, the total roofing squares with waste, the shingle bundle count, and a branded quote with your logo and prices.
- Area per face — each plane measured separately, in square feet.
- Pitch per face — in x/12 notation, up to 18/12.
- Roofing squares — total area in squares, waste factored in.
- Bundle count — shingle bundles for the measured area.
- A branded quote — your logo, your prices, ready to send.
Why measure each roof face separately instead of using one average pitch?
Pitch is a multiplier on the whole quote, so one average slope overbills the low sections and underbills the steep ones — exactly where the labour is.
Here is how a measured estimate breaks down for an ordinary house — a main body, a porch and an attached garage:
| Roof face | Pitch | Area | Squares |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main body | 8/12 | 1,980 sq ft | 19.8 |
| Porch | 4/12 | 420 sq ft | 4.2 |
| Garage | 6/12 | 640 sq ft | 6.4 |
| Total | — | 3,040 sq ft | 30.4 |
How much does a roof estimate cost?
Roof Border charges per estimate with no monthly fee — you pay only for the estimates you produce.
There is nothing to subscribe to and nothing sitting idle between jobs. The current per-estimate price is on the pricing page, and the no-monthly-fee model is explained in full.
